Professional Learning Opportunities

The purpose of the IU13 Literacy Collaborative is to give literacy leaders an opportunity to: * Stay informed of the most current information from the PDE and professional organizations, and share that information with colleagues in their school or district * Engage in collaborative professional learning for building their own capacity to lead * Serve as a resource for determining regional professional development needs * Network and engage in collegial dialogue with other "job alike" professionals

This professional development session will focus on unpacking the components of writing instruction and strategies for effectively teaching writing to students. Participants will also learn about two models that conceptualize the complexities of writing - the Simple View of Writing and the Writing Rope. The goals of the session are to help participants understand: *The complex nature of writing and the critical of writing instruction *The developmental stages of writing *The developmental phases of the writing process *Strategies to better support ALL learners develop into skilled writers Lunch is on your own *Funded by: PDE Accelerate Learning

Are you looking for strategies to engage your learners in ELA content that is geared to text analysis? Participants will investigate tips and tricks to get even the most reluctant readers and writers engaged in content relevant to text-dependent analysis. Participants will also participate in and receive lesson templates that utilize tools for analysis. *Participants will be asked to meet on July 1st, 2025 at 8:30am for course orientation with Dr. Jennifer Bean. This professional learning series is designed equip teachers with knowledge of the science of reading and structured literacy instruction. A blend of full-day sessions, job-embedded activities, and PLC meetings will support educators as they refine literacy practices to ensure all learners have the skills necessary to thrive as readers.
